Run Discussion Questions

Sorry about missing the deadline I set, but I think my addiction to everything "election" has been distracting me lately. I found some discussion questions (not created by me--sorry) and I thought I would post them. Please feel free to respond to any or all.

1. The author uses the statue to introduce the issue of race and family relations. Was this effectively played out?

2. What is the author's underlying message here? Is she presenting a new definition of family, a commentary on socioeconomics or something totally different?

3. Are you satisfied with how the author tied up the issue of race, family, parental responsibilities? What would you want changed or delved into with greater depth?

These are just a few ideas or starting off points. Please respond to anything that spoke to you in the book.
