Best Summer Reads

OK, so I know no one wants to think about this, but summer is coming to a close. Labor day is rapidly approaching and school is starting again. I know that summer is usually packed with fun, travel, beaches etc. But did you read? What did you read? Were you reading about the places you visited on vacation? (Ruben & Estefania--- books about India perhaps?)

I read a novel about a Columbine-ish type school shooting called Nineteen Minutes by Jodie Picoult. Its not the best story, but a quick read and it gives a depressing look into the effects of bullying. I also read a book called Dark Star Safari by Paul Theroux. It is the true story if Theroux's trip from Egypt to cape Town. It gives you a brief glimpse into the current state of many African nations as well as a look into the past. I enjoyed it. I want to know what you guys were reading...

Just finished The Road...heavy reading for summer, but well worth it. Best way to describe it is "raw"... the story, the setting, the emotions, the relationships. Highly recommended.

Whoa, wouldn't say The Road is a typical summer read. It gave me nightmares.
